Blessed are the Poor in Spirit...

  • Northridge United Methodist Church 4210 Derr Road Springfield, OH, 45503 United States (map)

Welcome to Northridge UM Church. This Sunday Pastor Karen Crawford will help us to continue our journey through the Beatitudes [Blessings] found in Matthew 5:1-12.. This Sunday we conclude the season of Epiphany and this Wednesday evening, Lent begins with an Ash Wednesday service at 7pm. I hope to see you there!

This Sunday we will be learning about "Blessed are the poor in spirit" (Matthew 5:3), which emphasizes the importance of spiritual humility and recognizing one's need for God. It suggests that true blessings come from acknowledging our spiritual emptiness and dependence on YHWH.

In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus teaches that humility leads to spiritual richness and the Kingdom of Heaven. Being poor in spirit means recognizing our spiritual poverty and seeking God's grace, which is essential for true fulfillment and salvation.

Our readings for the day are: Psalm 15; Romans 14:16-19; & Matthew 5:3-12

Know that you are welcome here!
